What to Blame: Is it users of SEO software or is it Google?

I confess. Before finding out about SEO products and site promotion field, I was of the opinion that Google was the best thing ever. I Used Google to look for everything from celebrities, to visuals, to news stories to strange gadgets and naively trusted the findings. Then I learned about SEO applications and an emerging field specializing in site promotion, and my attitudes were never the same. But even prior to my discovery, after doing a bit of introspective analysis, I got an inkling that search engines, Google to boot, know far from all, and reveal to the users even less than that.

My Google escapades soon convinced me that Flikr is a better image data bank, that with the help of Digg I can access great news stories without the need to rummage through Google search results (rummaging seems more descriptive than Google search), and people search is best administered by Facebook. It seems like whenever I look for odd gadgets on Google, the results are almost always messy, to put it mildly. Try searching for SEO software and other SEO connected topics on Google and you are just about prepared to give up your self-control. I mean, tell me, what’s the relationship between SEO tools and employment websites or Web casinos? Gladly, in my frustrations.

So when news of seo management software and the whole field revolving around it invaded my humble worldview, my qualms about websites landing on page one of Google increased exponentially. Do they merit to show up on there and whose fault is it, Google or webmasters using SEO software. The ethical dilemma is huge. Do I quit using my SEO keyword ranking tool or do I quit using Google instead? I resolved that I can’t quit Google just yet. At least not till the decent competitor enters the market. For now I will keep juggling between Blekko, Google and the above methods to complement the SERP mess that Google is. And, oh,yes, I will keep using my SEO products.

Truth is that SEO tools is the reason why guys like myself get some visibility online. Sophisticated as they are, Google web bots are not likely to find some average guy and rank his webpage highly. In this respect, I remain an unyielding advocate of SEO apps and natural search. If it was all about the money, the multinational giants would destroy me before I knew it. And there are up to one thousand powerbrands on the Fortune roll! But here is another thing that annoys me and other backlinks checker users, I am sure. There are people who invest in SEO apps and use them to sell beddingon casino sites and such. What we see is litter that not only permeates the net but is also highly positioned by search engines.

What is the public perspective on this? People search for SEO application reviews and will instead find junk SERPs. They get disillusioned. So much for the “Internet democracy”. Does this imply that SEO program and service field is harmful? Not necessarily.

The abusers of SEO products need to stop bastardizing the Web but it’s like ordering hackers to stop hacking. The bad thing about it is that black hat SEOs are overusing the chance to be seen on the Net that is given to the random person like myself. For now we just have to tolerate them. One can only wish that Google will put more emphasis on finding the schemers abusing SEO apps, and if Google doesn’t, the future search engine will.
